About sending money

Which countries are covered?
SOLmate supports a wide range of destinations. The grid above shows the corridors most of our customers use. The full, current list of supported countries and payout methods is shown in the SOLmate app at the moment you start a transfer.
How are the fees structured?
Fees vary by country, payout method, and the amount you send. The exact fee — together with the live exchange rate and what your family will receive — is shown on the quote screen in the app before you confirm. The quote is locked in for your transfer.
How fast is it?
Speed depends on the destination and the payout method you pick. Many corridors offer near-instant options into a mobile wallet, while bank deposits and cash pickup can take longer. The expected timing for your specific transfer is shown in the app before you confirm.
What's the monthly limit?
R25,000 per customer per month outbound. This is the standard SARB outbound limit for individuals and applies across all destinations combined. The limit resets on the 1st of each calendar month.
Do I need a SOLmate account first?
Yes. Sign-up takes a few minutes in the app with an SA ID, a foreign passport, or an asylum seeker permit. No proof of address required.
My country isn't in the grid above. Can I still send?
Quite possibly — supported destinations evolve over time and not every country we cover has its own page on this site. The SOLmate app shows the current list. Open the app, search for the destination, and you'll see whether it's available and which payout methods are live for it.
How do exchange rates work?
Rates move throughout the day. The SOLmate app shows the rate that will be applied to your transfer on the quote screen, next to a reference market rate, so you can see exactly what your family will receive before you confirm.
